Rubén Rosario Rodríguez, Ph.D. is the Clarence Louis and Helen Steber Professor of Theological Studies at Saint Louis University.
Dr. Rosario's published works include: Racism and God-Talk: A Latino/a Perspective (New York University Press, 2008), which won the 2011 Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Book Award in Theology; Christian Martyrdom and Political Violence: A Comparative Theology with Judaism and Islam (Cambridge University Press, 2017); and the T&T Clark Handbook of Political Theology (Bloomsbury/T&T Clark, 2019), which was nominated for the American Political Science Association’s Hubert Morken Book Award.
His most recent publications are Theological Fragments: Confessing What We Know and Cannot Know about an Infinite God (Westminster John Knox Press, 2023), and Calvin for the World: The Enduring Relevance of His Political, Social, and Economic Theology (Baker Academic, 2024).
As a political theologian, Dr. Rosario is committed to public-facing scholarship that aims to reach a broader audience beyond academia, including community engagement with advocacy groups and antiracism education in local churches.
An ordained Minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), he currently serves as moderator for the Commission on Preparation for Ministry, which oversees the formation of theological students and candidates for ordination. In the academy, he serves as President of La Comunidad of Latino/a Scholars of Religion in the American Academy of Religion and Society of Biblical Literature.
